Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has perhaps surprisingly dismissed football as his favourite sport.
Jordan named his top five sports after a talkSPORT survey revealed the nation’s second favourite sport behind the beautiful game.
The Dugout survey polled 5,000 talkSPORT listeners to determine which sport ranks behind football as the UK’s most beloved.
In a landslide victory, cricket took home more than a quarter of the votes with 26 per cent of listeners choosing it.
Cricket ranked ahead of boxing/mixed martial arts (11 per cent) and rugby union (10 per cent).
Meanwhile, football is only the second favourite sport for nine per cent of listeners. Jordan is part of that nine per cent, however.
Reacting to the results, he told talkSPORT: “I’m surprised it’s not boxing.”
This may come as no surprise, though, to listeners who know Jordan for his talkBOXING podcast, which is broadcast every week.
In addition, the boxing hour on White and Jordan every Thursday 12pm is also widely listened to.
“But I’m not surprised it’s cricket,” he continued on the subject of the Dugout results. “Because I’ve seen in the recent weeks we’ve been doing this a couple of times and a couple of times it’s come out of that way.”
Asked for his top five by co-host Ade Oladipo, Jordan explained: “If I were to put it in a ranking, it would be boxing first now.
“Boxing first, football, padel tennis, tennis, cricket.

Padel is one of the world’s fastest growing sports and, in addition to being enjoyed by Jordan, is also loved by names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and David Beckham. Former Chelsea captain John Terry told talkSPORT he is also a big fan of the sport.
