Rocket Classic 2025 golf betting preview
The Rocket Classic (it’s ditched the word ‘Mortgage’ from the title this year) is one of the newer events on the PGA Tour.
The tournament in Detroit, Michigan, was first played for in 2019 so this is only the seventh edition.
But we know what we’re getting: an out-and-out birdie fest.
Winning scores have ranged between 18-under and 26-under, and when Tony Finau triumphed with the latter total in 2022 he made birdie 27 times..
In other words he birdied 37.5% of the 72 holes. Rather different to me and you.

Aussie Cam Davis has won two of the six runnings while Americans have captured the other four.
Joining Finau were Nate Lashley (2019), Bryson DeChambeau (2020) and Rickie Fowler (2023).
The Donald Ross design is a par 72 measuring 7,370 yards. It’s tree-lined with Poa Annua greens.
After the big names were out in force for the US Open and Travelers Championship over the last fortnight, it’s a much weaker field that tees it up in Detroit.

Have a ball with Harry Hall
Although Cam Davis wasn’t in particularly good nick last year, generally the winners of this event have been in strong form.
And that brings Harry Hall firmly into the crosshairs.
The Englishman is flourishing Stateside and hasn’t finished outside the top 25 in each of his last five starts.
Hall, who was born in Cornwall before playing his college golf in Las Vegas, was ninth in an elite field at the Travelers Championship last week and two starts earlier he placed sixth in the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial in Texas.
With low scoring needed this week, the 27-year-old’s 4th place in the Birdie Average charts and 2nd in the Strokes Gained: Putting rankings must bode extremely well.
And a reminder that he’s already a winner on the PGA Tour having landed the ISCO Championship last July.
Back Hall each-way at 40/1 with Ladbrokes (1/5 odds, 6 places)
Back Akshay Bhatia for First Round Leader
Akshay Bhatia fired a superb 8-under 64 to take the first-round lead here 12 months ago.
He was still in front after 36 and 54 holes before eventually finishing as one of four runners-up.
But the wiry left-hander clearly gets on well with this course and is worth a bet to set the day one pace again.
Bhatia has ended the first round in the top 10 no less than six times this season so retains his habit of getting out of the blocks quickly.
It means the 60/1 in Betfred’s FRL market (1/4 odds, 5 places) looks real value.
Back Akshay Bhatia for First Round Leader at 60/1 with Betfred
Rickie Fowler for Top 10
Rickie Fowler finished fast at the Travelers Championship last week, signing for scores of 64 and 67 over the final 36 holes.
With seventh place at Memorial and 16th at Colonial in two of his previous three starts, the Californian looks a likely leaderboard candidate here.
And, of course, having won on this track two years ago, he’ll have the extra air of confidence that former champions boast when returning to a victory scene.
Back Fowler for a top 10 at 4/1 with bet365
