The recent rollout of Android 15 has significantly enhanced the functionality of Google Pixel devices, including phones, earbuds, and watches. This update introduces a multitude of features aimed at improving user experience through advanced technology. Notable enhancements include the widely accessible Gemini Live feature, which allows users to engage with their Pixel Buds hands-free and utilize Gemini for screenshots . Furthermore, the new Audio Magic Eraser tool is particularly beneficial for video editing by minimizing distracting sounds.
“Today, Android 15 starts rolling out to Pixel devices,” Google announced on Tuesday, heralding updates that “include security features that help keep your sensitive health, financial and personal information protected from theft and fraud.” But it could be that this first release is more notable for what’s missing than what’s included, made worse by a serious Google update mistake that will see millions of users missing out.
Previously announced with the launch of Pixel Buds Pro 2, you can now access Gemini on all Pixel Buds models. Whether you have Pixel Buds Pro, Pixel Buds A-Series or the original Pixel Buds, you can talk to Gemini to get walking directions, ask for info from your emails, or brainstorm out loud with Gemini Live. Simply say: “Hey Google, let’s talk” to start a conversation.
And Gemini Live is now widely available for all Pixel users, free of charge. We’re also expanding to new languages – including German and Portuguese — so more people can chat through new ideas or converse on the go.
Many devices running Android — not just Android 15 — will also be getting Theft Detection Lock, which lets your phone automatically lock itself if it detects (with the help of AI) that it has been stolen. Google is also adding a feature called Remote Lock that lets you lock your phone using another Android phone, your phone number, and a “simple security check.” The company says that “most” devices on Android 10 and newer will get these features, and some people already have them.
-- Android 15 also brings a new App Pairing feature to enable multi-tasking. "can also save your most frequently used app combinations and they’ll appear as a single app icon on your foldable or tablet. With just a tap, you can quickly retrieve them in split-screen for faster access," Google added.
