Sarah Huckabee Sanders highlights the influence of GOP governors during the Biden administration

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, former White House Press Secretary under the Trump administration, recently highlighted the influence of GOP governors during the Biden administration. "I got the chance to take my 4-year-old son Huck to 'Bring Your Kid to Work Day,'" she said, "much like Jill now drags Joe to 'Bring Your Husband to Work Day.'"

Sanders also recalled the criticism she faced from the news media at the time. During her tenure as press secretary from July 2017 to July 2019, Sanders was accused of lying to the White House press corps.

In speaking about her own record as governor, Sanders said she was the "first and only governor in the country to kick Communist China off our farmland," however at least 24 other states also forbid or limit nonresidents to own farmland, according to the Agricultural Law Center.

With Biden in office, Sanders said, Republican governors had to take up Trump’s fight.

“For the last four years, Republican governors have been leading that fight, and doing what Joe Biden refuses to do,” she said. “We deployed the National Guard to the border. We cracked down on crime and drugs. We cut taxes to give hardworking Americans a break from Bidenflation. And we empowered Americans with universal school choice across the country.”

Sanders served as White House press secretary for President Donald Trump, a position she held from July 2017 to July 2019. She became Arkansas' governor in January 2023.

She said Trump defended her during that time. She recounted episodes when a comedian insulted her, when her family was kicked out of a restaurant, and when an MSNBC host said she wanted to wring Sanders' neck.

Furthermore, GOP governors have been instrumental in shaping the narrative surrounding key issues such as immigration, education, and healthcare. By voicing their opinions and taking action at the state level, these leaders are able to influence public opinion and potentially sway national policy decisions.
