Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season wraps up Monday night with the Cincinnati Bengals (5-6) on the road to face the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-3).
What can we expect from a betting standpoint?
Betting analysts Seth Walder, Tyler Fulghum and Aaron Schatz are here to provide their thoughts.
Bengals backup quarterback Jake Browning -- filling in for the injured Joe Burrow -- did his best Burrow impression in Jacksonville, leading Cincinnati to a 21-14 lead late in the third quarter. But the Jags stormed back with a pair of TDs, the second of which set up by a Josh Allen interception of a Tyler Boyd pass, to take the lead.
Browning answered with a short TD to even the score 28-28, then commanded a late field goal drive one possession after Lawrence went down and was taken to the locker room. Jaguars backup C.J. Beathard answered with a field goal drive of his own, sending the game to overtime where Bengals kicker Evan McPherson won the game from 48 yards.
C.J. Beathard, playing backup QB for Lawrence, came on cold and helped guide the Jags to a nine-play, 53-yard drive, which ended with a 40-yard field goal from Brandon McManus with 26 seconds left to tie the game for the fifth time.
After the Bengals' defense came up with a stand, Browning authored a 12-play overtime drive, including a key 3rd down conversion pass to Tee Higgins, who stuck with the play.
The Jaguars missed a field goal after that, then the Bengals took the lead on a field goal with 2:28 left. That was a heck of a spot for Beathard to enter the game. He immediately fumbled on a scramble, though the Jaguars recovered. Then Beathard got into a rhythm and led a drive that ended with a game-tying field goal with 26 seconds left.
Jacksonville got the ball first in overtime. A holding penalty on rookie right tackle Anton Harrison wiped out a great completion from Beathard to Calvin Ridley inside the 5-yard line. It was a questionable call that probably cost Jacksonville a score to give them the lead. The Jaguars punted after that.
Browning finished the game completing 32-of-37 passes for 354 yards and a touchdown. His top target was Ja'Marr Chase who had 11 receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown, while Joe Mixon rushed for 68 yards and two TDs.
