Dolphins win over Giants, Daniel Jones leaves the game with neck injury.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones left Sunday's 31-16 loss to the Miami Dolphins in the fourth quarter with a neck injury.

Jones was hurt when he was sacked from behind by Andrew Van Ginkel. He walked off the field with trainers and was examined in the medical tent before walking to the locker room. He was ruled out within minutes and was replaced by Tyrod Taylor.

"I feel fine," Jones said afterward. "I think clearly in some pain. Physical game. Meet with the doctors and trainers and then go from there."

Jones, who signed a four-year, $160 million deal this past offseason, underwent an X-ray at the stadium. He said they were still examining the results. He will undergo an MRI on Monday to get a diagnosis.

Van Ginkel flew off the edge virtually untouched by left tackle Joshua Ezeudu and hit Jones in the back. Jones' body curled up as he went to the ground.

The Giants’ Jason Pinnock returned one of the interceptions 102 yards for New York’s only touchdown. It was the Giants’ first touchdown in the first half of a game this season. The 102-yard interception return tied for the longest in Giants history.

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones left in the fourth with a neck injury after a sack by linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel. Tyrod Taylor replaced Jones with 12:11 left and led the Giants on a scoring drive capped by a 51-yard field goal by Graham Gano.

Jones had X-rays after the game and will undergo imaging tests on Monday to determine the severity of the neck issue.

The Giants are short-handed — running back Saquon Barkley’s ankle injury kept him out of a third consecutive game, and have used four different starter combinations on the offensive line already this season. The AFC East-leading Dolphins also made them look slow-footed, with Tyreek Hill getting two catches of at least 64 yards and De’Von Achane scoring on a 76-yard rush where the Giants looked as if they were standing still.

Taylor came in to play the final 12 minutes after Jones departed, and would figure to be the starter if Jones has to miss time. No matter who will be under center, the Giants are the opposite of an offensive juggernaut.

The Giants haven’t scored a first-quarter touchdown in any of their past 12 games, going back to last season.
