FIRES NEAR HOPLAND: Cal Fire responded to at least two vegetation fires late Thursday and early Friday that started near Hopland in Mendocino County. The first was the Rock Fire, located about five miles south of Hopland near Highway 101, which Mendocino Unit Chief George Gonzalez described as “being kept to less than 10 acres (thanks to) aggressive action by firefighters.” Gonzalez also reported that crews spotted the Vineyard Fire while responding to the Rock Fire, and the second fire was being held at one-quarter acre.
