An eight-year-old Doha-based Indian student recently set a new record for performing the maximum Bharatanatayam 'mudras' (hand gestures) in the least time – 56 in 35 seconds. Sharon Ranjiv set the record as per the 'Champions Book of World Records', 'India Book of Records' and 'International Book of Records'. Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest classical dance traditions in India. A grade IV student of Birla Public School, Sharon had been learning Indian classical dance since the age of six at the Swasthi Academy in Doha under the guidance of Lakshana. Sharon achieved the world record with guidance from Anandu Krishnan A K.
