ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The former Crescent Beach Restaurant in Greece is headed to a foreclosure auction in December, according to court documents. It comes nearly two years after the owner, Katherine Mott-Formicola, had to surrender the property as part of a federal fraud case.
A New York State Supreme Court filing shows that eight parcels of land on Edgemere Drive, all belonging to Casciani Construction Company, will be auctioned on Dec. 9. One matches the address of Crescent Beach. The auction will happen at the Monroe County Hall of Justice.
This comes after a judge signed a partial judgment of foreclosure and sale on Oct. 20, allowing Casciani Construction Company to move forward with the sale of the properties. The judgment amounts to more than $1.8 million.
Crescent Beach has been closed since 2013. Casciani Construction Company gave Mott-Formicola and her business partner $1.7 million to buy the empty building and the neighboring parcels in 2023. However, plans to revitalize the building were halted after Mott-Formicola was charged with running a check-kiting scheme that cost Five Star Bank nearly 19 million dollars.
She’s currently awaiting sentencing. You can read about how check-kiting works here.
