Parsons Corporation has secured a multi-year contract to provide project and construction management (PMCM) services for the extension of Riyadh Metro’s Red Line through its joint venture, Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC).
The joint venture, which includes Systra and Egis, was awarded the contract by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), marking new work for Parsons.
The 8.4km extension will run from the existing King Saud University (KSU) terminus to Diriyah South, further integrating the historic district with Riyadh’s public transport network.
The project comprises 5 stations, including 2 elevated and 3 underground stations. Of the total route, 1.3km will be elevated, while the remaining 7.1km will run underground.
The extension is expected to strengthen connectivity across the Saudi capital, ease traffic congestion and reduce journey times, while supporting the Kingdom’s sustainability and urban development ambitions under Saudi Vision 2030.

RMTC began working on the Riyadh Metro in 2013 and was involved in delivering its first phase, which included the Blue, Red and Orange lines.
Parsons said it has delivered rail and transit projects in more than 50 countries, with experience spanning major brownfield expansions and greenfield developments. The company has also been involved in major rail projects across the Gulf region.
