Former figure skater Tonya Harding is back on the ice, more than 30 years after her infamous scandal that rocked the sports world.
Harding, 55, was the first American woman to land a triple axel in competition at the 1991 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. While nobody ever said she wasn’t talented, the skater’s talents were largely overshadowed by her personal problems and the scandal that dominated headlines. Her ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, orchestrated an attack on skating competitor Nancy Kerrigan in January 1994, and Harding’s dreams of Olympic gold were soon gone. But more than three decades later, Harding is hitting the ice once again as she prepares for “Tonya and Friends,” a public skating show in Vancouver.
Check out the video below of Harding now as she hits the ice to prepare for the show, which is set to take place on Dec. 12 at Mountain View Ice Arena. Boasting the same blonde hair that she had back in the day, Harding is ready to spin her way into the spotlight.
“The love of skating is the reason why I’ve always come back,” Harding said in an interview with KOIN. “I just can’t walk away from it.”

Harding was famously portrayed by Margot Robbie in the beloved 2017 film, I, Tonya. Generally one to avoid intimate interviews, Harding opened up a bit around the press tour for the film.
“The media had me convicted of doing something wrong before I had even done anything at all,” she told ABC in her 2018 special Truth and Lies: The Tonya Harding Story. “I am always the bad person. Is it a challenge from the Lord to see how far I can be pushed until I break and become nothing? You can’t push me that far anymore, because I have been nothing and I have been nothing several times.”

Harding has moved on from her mistakes of the ’90s. She’s made appearances on a variety of reality shows and continues to be a busy working mom living her life.
“My family and I are doing good,” she told PEOPLE in January 2024. “For the past year, I have been working as a custodian for two businesses that are part of one corporation.”
