Mykolas Tuskenis from Vilnius, Lithuania, has verbally committed to swim at Louisiana State University. He has also reclassified to the class of 2027, so he will arrive in the fall of 2027. He wrote on social media:
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to Louisiana State University to continue my academic and athletic career! Additionally, I have decided to reclassify to the Class of 2027. A huge thank you to my parents, family, and coaches for their endless support and guidance throughout this journey. I’m incredibly grateful to Coach Pace and the entire LSU staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to compete at the next level. Geaux Tigers!”
Tuskenis swims for Sostinės Sporto Centras. He most recently competed at the 2026 European Junior Championships, where he finished 15th in the 100 back in a 56.01 in prelims. He also placed 18th in the 200 back with a lifetime best 2:03.59 and 21st in the 50 back in a 26.10. He led off Lithuania’s boys 400 medley relay in a lifetime best 55.49, which placed 7th, and he split a 50.37 on the 400 free relay.
Tuskenis’s Best SCM Times (With SCY Conversions) Are:
100 back: 51.31 (44.90) 200 back: 1:53.26 (1:39.54)The LSU men finished 7th out of 11 teams at the 2026 SEC Championships and went on to finish 16th at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Sprinter Jere Hribar led the team at NCAAs with 24 individual points.
Based on his best converted times, Tuskenis has the potential to make an immediate impact upon his arrival as he would have been the fastest backstroker on the team this past season, including the fastest 200 backstroker by five seconds. His converted times would already be just a tenth off the NCAA cutline in the 200 back as it took a 1:39.47 to earn an individual invite to 2026 NCAAs. His 200 back would have been 5th at SECs, an event the team had no finalists in.
Tuskenis will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Joao Bodemeier of Brazil and Kyle Burk of Pennsylvania.
