2026 U.S. Short Course World Championship Trials

October 28-31, 2026 Westmont, IL — FMC Natatorium SCM (25 Meters) Meet Central Selection Criteria Psych Sheets Live Results Live Stream Recaps Prelims: Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 Finals: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4

After three days of competition in Westmont, the men have just one roster spot remaining before athletes will start dropping off the roster, coming in at 19 athletes total. The women have five spots left for athletes to earn new priority designations with 15 athletes.

As a reminder, here is a simplified selection process:

The top-two finishers in each event will be selected to the team in that event—provided they’ve both hit the ‘A’ qualifying standard. If the winner of an event does not hit the ‘A’ qualifying time, but does hit the ‘B’ cut, the winner will qualify for the team in that event, but the 2nd-place finisher will not. If the winner of an event hits the ‘A’ qualifying time but the 2nd-place finisher does not, and the 2nd-place finisher has not achieved the ‘A’ cut at any sanctioned meet from July 27, 2025 through October 31, 2026, then only the winner in the event will be selected to the team and not the runner-up. Beyond individual selection, the top four finishers in the 100 and 200 freestyle will be named to the team, provided the roster doesn’t exceed capacity (see priorities below).

Selection Priorities

The top two finishing swimmers in the 100 and 200 free The top finishing swimmer in every event other than the 100 and 200 free The 2nd finishing swimmer in every event other than the 100 and 200 free The 3rd finishing swimmer in the 100 free The 3rd finishing swimmer in the 200 free The 4th finishing swimmer in the 100 free The 4th finishing swimmer in the 200 free

The United States roster is capped at 40 swimmers total — 20 men and 20 women.

If the roster exceeds capacity after adding all Priority 2 swimmers, then swimmers will be added to the team in order of the highest percentage difference of the ‘A’ standard in the event in which they qualified.

Night Three Selections

The 3rd night of the 2026 U.S. SC World Championships Trials saw the first Priority 1 swimmers get crowned in the women’s 200 free and the men’s 100 free.

Liberty Clark won the women’s 200 freestyle in American record fashion, stopping the clock in 1:51.31. She finished just ahead of Rylee Erisman‘s 1:51.96 for 2nd. Both women will lock up spots at the SC World Championships.

In the men’s 100 freestyle, Jack Alexy set a massive new world record time of 44.64, taking two tenths off the former world record and punching his ticket to Beijing. Chris Guiliano finished 2nd in 45.22, four tenths ahead of Caeleb Dressel to lock up his own spot in Beijing.

The men’s roster currently sits at 19 swimmers with all seven priorities counted. That means only one new swimmer would be able to earn a priority tomorrow before some athletes will not be able to attend.

On the women’s side, there are only 15 spots filled, even when accounting for all seven priorities. That leaves five open roster spots for tomorrow’s events before athletes, starting with Camille Spink as the Priority 7 swimmer, will be left off the team.

All athletes are listed under their highest priority with all events they are qualified to swim.
