Hulu has brought together stars from The Sopranos, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and other reality-TV favorites for a competition that promises plenty of backstabbing. But in The Mob, the drama isn’t entirely part of the game: At least one rivalry began before the cameras started rolling.
The new series, hosted by Parker Posey, puts 12 celebrities in an Italian villa for a mob-inspired competition. The contestants scheme for a chance to win up to $250,000, with one player serving as the Don and holding power over the others.

The cast includes Sopranos actress Aida Turturro and RHONJ star Joe Gorga, along with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives alum Demi Engemann and Too Hot to Handle personality Harry Jowsey. And it didn’t take long for old tensions to complicate the alliances.
Harry Jowsey’s Beef With a Fellow Contestant Started Before the Show
Jowsey recently revealed that his issue with Engemann wasn’t born inside the villa. In an interview about the series, he said he had been speaking negatively about her on his podcast before filming, partly because he was close with people from her Secret Lives of Mormon Wives circle who were not on good terms with her.
“I was talking s**t about Demi on my podcast with a few people that weren’t too friendly to her,” Jowsey explained to TV Insider.
He also acknowledged that he wanted Engemann eliminated from the competition.
Engemann, for her part, characterized the conflict as more one-sided. She said she knew Jowsey had an issue with her, but didn’t feel the same way toward him.
“I didn’t really have anything against [him],” she said. “But I knew that Harry had some feelings towards me. I actually didn’t watch that [podcast] episode that he filmed until way later after I met [him], luckily, because it was pretty bad.”
That history adds a layer to their interactions on The Mob: The contestants aren’t just trying to outmaneuver one another for the prize money. Some are also bringing real-world relationships and rivalries into the game.
The Villa Has Plenty of Other Scheming
The Harry-Engemann tension isn’t the only source of friction.
A Parade sneak peek showed The Bachelor alum Maria Georgas plotting to take Joe Gorga‘s position as Don. At the same time, Gorga’s secret cash offer to Engemann created another potential source of mistrust.
With familiar reality-TV personalities, a Sopranos connection, and a game built around alliances and betrayals, The Mob mixes several kinds of reality-show drama under one roof. And, in at least one case, the feud was already underway before anyone arrived at the villa.
New episodes of The Mob stream weekly on Mondays.
