A Florida estate once owned by Mexican music legend Juan Gabriel is back on the market for $38.9 million, more than three decades after the singer bought the property for $1.275 million in 1995.

Located at 13920 Stirling Road in Southwest Ranches, west of Fort Lauderdale, the estate spans 9.69 acres and includes eight bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms, two half-bathrooms and six separate buildings. The property was listed on Oct. 7, with a price that reflects major changes made to the grounds since its last sale in 2022.

According to Latin Times, Juan Gabriel purchased the estate for $1.275 million. The property later sold for $9 million in June 2022. Its current asking price is $29.9 million higher than that sale price, an increase of about 332%.

The estate has also changed significantly since Juan Gabriel owned it. The current property includes a large indoor basketball facility, a private wellness building, a clubhouse with a movie theater, two swimming pools and other recreational features.

The singer, whose real name was Alberto Aguilera Valadez, died in 2016 at age 66. He remains one of the most recognized Mexican singer-songwriters, known for hit songs such as “Querida,” “Amor Eterno” and “Hasta Que Te Conocí.”

The Southwest Ranches property offers about 23,442 square feet of space across its six buildings.

The main house has five bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. Two bedrooms on the ground floor have separate entrances and living areas. Upstairs, the main bedroom suite includes a breakfast bar, a refrigerator, separate bathrooms and closets, and a balcony overlooking the estate.

The kitchen features appliances from brands including Miele, Viking, Dacor and Liebherr.

The compound also has a three-bedroom guesthouse, a separate clubhouse, a gym and spa, and a garage. The garage can hold four vehicles and has lift capacity for up to eight.

The property also has hurricane-impact windows and doors, which are designed to provide protection during severe storms.

One of the estate’s most unusual features is its approximately 10,500-square-foot indoor basketball facility, per Hoodline.

The air-conditioned building has professional athletic flooring, locker rooms, a viewing balcony, conference space, and a smoothie bar. The facility is currently used by a nonprofit basketball program.

Listing agent Angeline Earnest said the current owners, a sports-oriented family, added many of the recreational features for their children.

The estate also has outdoor basketball facilities and a hockey area. These additions give the property spaces for sports and activities beyond what is usually found in a private home.

Other buildings offer places to relax and spend time with guests.

The clubhouse includes a bar, a movie theater and gaming stations. The separate wellness building has a sauna, a steam room, a cold plunge, a massage room and a tanning bed.

Outside, two swimming pools, a tiki pavilion, and a koi pond add to the estate’s resort-style setting. Landscaped grounds, walking paths and other outdoor features make use of the property’s large area.

Per Latin Times, Zillow records show that the property was listed for $4.995 million in December 2017. Its asking price was later reduced to $4.15 million in 2018.

In February 2022, the estate returned to the market with a $10 million asking price. It sold for $9 million in June of that year.

The limited liability company that purchased the property in 2022 later made extensive improvements, according to Miami Herald. The renovations helped turn the estate into a compound with separate spaces for living, sports, entertainment and wellness.

Its location in Southwest Ranches also sets it apart from many luxury homes in South Florida.

The town is known for its large properties, open land and equestrian character. Its location west of Fort Lauderdale offers access to major South Florida destinations while providing more space than many homes in densely developed areas.

The estate’s history also includes a connection to Juan Gabriel’s family. According to the Miami Herald, the singer transferred the property to his son in 2015, a year before his death. Juan Gabriel built a music career that reached audiences across Mexico, the United States, and other parts of the world.

Born in Michoacán, Mexico, on January 7, 1950, he became famous for combining traditional Mexican music with pop and other musical styles. His songs often explored love, heartbreak and everyday struggles, helping him connect with listeners across generations.

In 2009, the Latin Recording Academy named him its Person of the Year in recognition of his musical achievements and contributions. He also earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame.

Juan Gabriel died on Aug. 28, 2016, in Santa Monica, California, at age 66.
