In another life, I’m living in a charming English cottage, baking fresh bread, tending to my garden, and drinking tea from floral mugs. In this life, I’m scrolling through Walmart’s home decor section looking for ways to recreate that feeling without actually moving to the countryside. And while I haven’t quite figured out how to afford a sprawling estate or add a stone fireplace into my apartment, I’ve discovered that a few well-chosen accents can go a long way.
Case in point: Walmart’s new Mainstays Rechargeable Cordless Table Lamp which costs just $15. With its classic checkered pattern and charming cottage-inspired look, it’s an easy way to add some personality to a nightstand, bookshelf, or corner that could use more warmth. Plus, because it’s cordless, you don’t have to worry about finding an outlet or hiding an unsightly wire.

The brown-and-cream checkered fabric is gathered into soft pleats, with matching trim along the top and bottom edges for a polished finish. A slim black metal stem and round base give it a more contemporary look, making it easy to work into everything from a cottage-inspired bedroom to a modern living room. Measuring just 12.75 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide, it’s small enough to fit on a crowded nightstand, narrow bookshelf, or kitchen counter.
A built-in rechargeable battery means it doesn’t need to stay plugged into an outlet, so you can place it wherever extra light would be welcome. There’s also no separate light bulb to buy, thanks to the integrated LED. Instead, a small touch-sensitive button on the base controls everything, from turning the lamp on and off to adjusting the color and brightness.

The warm setting casts a golden glow that’s especially inviting for evenings spent curled up on the couch, while the neutral and cool options offer whiter light for reading or working at a desk. You can also press and hold the button to adjust the brightness from 10% to 100%, so you’re not stuck with the same intensity all day.
Walmart shoppers had plenty of praise to give this “adorable” light’s smart design. “It’s super handy that it’s wireless and has great battery life,” one reviewer wrote, while another customer added, “It’s incredibly lightweight and portable, while being super cute and sleek!”
