World Aquatics has announced the schedule for the 2027 Swimming World Cup, which will feature one of the first opportunities for pool swimming athletes to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The meets will be hosted in three previous Olympic hosts. The first stop will be in Berlin at the SSE Swimming Hall, which hosted a World Cup meet in 2023, from October 15-17.

The athletes will then travel to Paris, which played host to the most recent Games in 2024, where they will swim at the Olympic Aquatic Centre from October 22-24.

Finally, the series will wrap up in London, the host of the Games in 2012, at the London Aquatics Centre from October 29-31.

Stops

Berlin, Germany: October 15-17 SSE Swimming Hall 4,500 seats (expanded) Paris, France: October 22-24 Olympic Aquatic Centre 6,000 seats (expanded) London, England: October 29-31 London Aquatics Centre 3,800 seats (expanded)

The 2027 World Cup will also feature 2028 Olympic qualifying opportunities in the 50s of stroke. The 50s were added to the Olympic schedule in April of 2025, and later it was revealed that the Olympic swimming athlete quota dropped from 852 to Paris to 830 in Los Angeles.

In an effort to limit additional athletes, the primary way athletes can qualify to swim the 50s of stroke is through a top-six finish at the designated World Cup stop.

Berlin, Germany: Women’s 50 Butterfly and Men’s 50 Backstroke Paris, France: Women’s 50 Breaststroke and Men’s 50 Butterfly London, England: Women’s 50 Backstroke and Men’s 50 Breaststroke.

The athletes in the designated 50s of stroke will race in preliminary heats during the first morning of competition. The athletes will then move onto a quarter-final on night one. They will then swim a semi-final on the 2nd evening before the top eight will race in finals on the last day of the stop. The top six finishers will earn qualification to the Games.

While an athlete earns automatic qualification through this procedure, their spot must be confirmed by their National Olympic Committee (NOC). If the NOC declines, withdraws or fails to respond in time, the swimmer ranked #1 in the world will take their spot. If the world #1 has already qualified, the swimmer who finished 7th in the World Cup final will qualify.

World Aquatics President Husain Al Musallam said, “We are delighted to announce Berlin, Paris and London as the host cities for this landmark edition of the Swimming World Cup.

“Each city has an outstanding sporting pedigree and Olympic heritage and therefore offers a fitting stage to determine the qualifiers for 50m events newly-introduced onto the Olympic programme for LA28.

“Following the success of this year’s Silk Road Tour, the added incentive of LA28 Olympic qualification makes the 2027 edition particularly compelling, and we cannot wait to see the world’s best swimmers in action across these three iconic venues.”
