ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Amazon says it’s gearing up to hire more than 1,500 seasonal, part-time, and full-time workers in the Rochester area ahead of a busy holiday season.
In total, the company is looking to hire more than 300,000 people nationwide. Amazon says it will post job listings weekly from October through December, and many seasonal employees will have the chance to transition to full-time roles. You can see a list of nearby job openings here.
Seasonal employees at Amazon can qualify for healthcare coverage. Starting on Jan. 1, seasonal employees working at least 30 hours per week become eligible for healthcare, just like Amazon’s regular full-time employees. Plan options start at $5 a week with $5 copays.
Much of the local Amazon operations are centered around the Amazon Fulfillment Center on Manitou Road in Gates. The 2.6-million-square-foot facility handles and sorts over 700,000 items daily.
