Both Alabama gubernatorial candidates will be in Tuscaloosa this week — Doug Jones on Monday and Tommy Tuberville on Wednesday.
Jones, the Democratic candidate, will be taking questions in Room 100 of North Lawn Hall at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Jones’ event will allow voters to ask questions about his campaign and learn more about him. This will mark the 20th stop for Jones’ Town Hall Tour that started on July 1. The event is being hosted by the Kappa Alpha and Theta Alpha Lambda chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the UA College Democrats. Attendees can register for the event here.
“This is a change election, and the first step is making sure folks are registered,” Jones said. “If you’re not registered, Monday is your last chance. Your future in this state is on the ballot, so get registered and get out to vote on Nov. 3.”
Both candidates were invited to host individual forums, but only Jones responded.
Tuberville, the Republican candidate, will host a meet-and-greet on Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hotel Capstone.
“Like President Trump, I’ll continue to protect common sense and stand up for our shared conservative values in Montgomery,” said Tuberville.
Tuberville’s campaign is in a statewide swing that takes him from Florence to Mobile before Election Day. The schedule offers fish fries, barbecues, rallies and meet-and-greets with the candidate. Tuberville provides voters with the opportunity to meet him personally and listen to his vision for the state if elected. His campaign will conclude with an election night watch party hosted at The Hotel at Auburn University.
Absentee voting opened on Sept. 9 in Alabama, with voter registration closing on Monday. Election day will be Tuesday, Nov. 3.
