Sadly, the American actor, 65, doesn’t have plans to helm another project despite his first film’s success. That’s just one of the revelations from Tucci’s recent interview with Vanity Fair, where he opened up about other aspects of his career — including the idea of calling it quits one day.
“I don’t think I’ll ever really retire, but I am inching toward semiretirement,” he told the magazine in an article published Friday, October 16. “I’ve been doing it for 46 years and I’m a little tired. There are just other things I want to do. I want to paint more and sculpt. I want to direct another play. My younger kids are still young and I want to be with them.”
In the meantime, the Devil Wears Prada star can be spotted in current and upcoming movies, such as Masterplan that’s now playing in theaters. Tucci addressed a hot topic these days when it comes to cinema: artificial intelligence.
“If you look at the Marvel movies… those still have a substantial amount of soul and actual physicality to them,” the Captain America: The First Avenger co-star told Vanity Fair. “Guys like the Russo brothers use [AI] appropriately. It’s when you’re creating entire films with characters that are AI-generated — if maybe the actor has passed away — or you’re using that image in place of the actual actor, that can be quite disturbing.”
