And the gold medalist opened up about the reason why she chose to spotlight her sibling.“It was a pretty easy decision to make,” she admits. “I wouldn’t be here without my sister.” She continues, “I had a really, really dark, tough time about 11 years ago, and she was a guiding light that really helped me. I was really, really just suffering with my mental health and had to completely just strip down to just surviving every single day, and she made me feel like I was not a burden to be around. And she helped me realize I’m more than just an athlete. I’m a human that has so much to offer the world, rather than just what I can do.“This is really just my way of saying thank you. She’s always been very supportive of me, and to now be able to bring her into something I’m doing is something I never thought I’d get the chance to do so. And, indeed, it seems like we’ll be seeing that happen again for some people (jury’s still out as to whether Maura can fly the 7.2 million people in Ireland to perform with her).“Brooke will be with us in this dance,” Pasha confirms. “She’s there for a good part of the dance as well. She is learning some choreo. But it’s been a nice, fun dynamic in the dance studio this week. They have a cool dynamic going between the two of them.” In teasing what to expect on the dance floor this week, Pasha says that their Contemporary routine will spotlight mental health, something that is an incredibly important part of not only the sisters’ relationship, but Amber’s journey towards the gold medal (and hopefully a Mirror Ball as well).“I feel like a Dedication Night is always a very special night,” he teases. “And I’m honored that I get to do this dance and tell the story. Because it is a real story. It’s a real journey. From the beginning, one thing we said is that if this dance, if this piece helps at least one person watching this show, it’s already going to be a success.
