ALBANY, N.Y. — New York State says it’s making progress on its promise to mail energy rebate checks for up to $200 to 8.2 million residents.
The state says three million people have already gotten their checks. The remaining 5.2 million checks will be mailed now through December. The $1 billion in funding for the program comes from the state budget.
People who filed taxes in 2024 are eligible for the rebates, and there’s no need to apply. Joint filers with incomes below $150,000 a year will get a $200 check, and joint filers making between $150,000 and $300,000 will get $150.
