Jennifer Aniston has been accused of giving a director a bizarre gift that she allegedly intended to humiliate her in front of an entire film crew.
Filmmaker Penelope Spheeris made the allegation during an appearance on The Moynihan Report podcast, recalling an incident she says happened while working on the 2011 Lifetime anthology Five.
According to Page Six’s report, Spheeris said an assistant director asked her to sit in a chair at the end of the shoot. The crew gathered around as a producer approached with a gift box.
Spheeris initially thought the gesture was sweet. However, she said the moment took an unexpected turn when she opened the package.
“There [was] a f-king dildo in there in front of the whole crew,” Spheeris recalled, according to Page Six, questioning why she was expected to open such a present publicly.
The director described the alleged gesture as “mean-spirited” and claimed Aniston was behind it. However, Spheeris did not say she had directly witnessed the actress arranging the gift.
Spheeris explained that her suspicion was reinforced by an encounter at the 2012 Directors Guild Awards. She recalled seeing Aniston carrying what she believed was the same type of gift box.
According to Page Six, Spheeris said Aniston told her the box contained a present for producer Marta Kauffman. The filmmaker said she recognized the packaging and concluded that the earlier gift had also come from Aniston.
“I’ll get sued for that but whatever,” Spheeris said, as quoted by Page Six.
Aniston’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
