Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Dylan Liu from Saratoga, California, has made a verbal commitment to the admission process* at Princeton University. She will join the Tigers in the fall of 2027. Liu told SwimSwam:
“I chose Princeton because of the amazing academics, top swim program, the community and because of the opportunities.”
Liu is a senior at Lynbrook High School, where she has both swum and played water polo. She swims year-round for the club team De Anza Cupertino Aquatics. She shared with SwimSwam, “Freshman year, I had a really bad shoulder injury so I could only kick or do modified practices. I got really burnt out so I switched to water polo. But after playing water polo, I realized my passion was with swimming, so I joined swimming again. Two months later, I went from one Sectionals cut to two Futures cuts, and later that summer I got two Summer Juniors cuts.”
In high school swimming last season, she placed 2nd in the 100 breast (1:02.55) and 10th in the 200 IM (2:05.71) at the Central Coast Section Championships. At the California CIF State Championships, she went 1:01.38 in the 100 breast in prelims and 1:02.08 in finals, placing 2nd in both races. That was a huge improvement from her sophomore season, when, as she recounted, “I got disqualified in finals because the officials said I did two dolphin kicks. That was a super important lesson, and motivated me to come back stronger the next year.”
Prior to high school season, her best 100 breast performance was at Winter Juniors, when she notched a PB of 1:02.67 in prelims to make the ‘C’ final. She also swam the 200 breast at that meet, coming in 47th with 2:18.31.
Liu competed in the 50 breast (PB of 33.49), 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM at the 2026 U.S. Nationals in Irvine, but the highlight of her summer was at Novato Sectionals a week earlier. There, she won the 200 breast, was runner-up in the 100 breast, was 4th in the 50 breast, and placed 10th in the 200 IM. She took home PBs in the 50 breast (33.76), 100 breast (1:12.40), 200 breast (2:35.74), 50 fly (30.67), 100 fly (1:08.90), and 200 IM (2:27.11). Those were year-over-year improvements of 1.5 seconds in the 50 breast, .5 in the 100 breast, 1.8 in the 200 breast, 2.0 in the 50 fly, 1.5 in the 100 fly, and 6.8 in the 200 IM.
Liu will join swimmers Greta Myers, Isabella Muir, Nora McCarthy, Isabel Wu, Annabel Townsend, and Claire Cheung, and diver Mira Wiegman, in the Tigers’ class of 2031. Her best 100 breast time would have scored in the ‘A’ final at 2026 Ivy League Women’s Championships, while her 200 time would have missed the ‘A’ by .21.
Best SCY times:
50 breast – 29.11 100 breast – 1:01.38 200 breast – 2:15.50 200 IM – 2:05.71*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
