ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re going to see a little bit of everything this week – from temperatures near 80 to perhaps our first snowflakes. First the warmth: a warm front lifted through the area, and will stall our just to our north Monday night and into Tuesday. Some showers and perhaps a few storms will likely develop by first thing Tuesday morning, with a gusty thunderstorm not out of the question. That front will lift back to the north for the majority of the rest of the day, with temperatures flirting with 80 degrees into the afternoon with mainly dry weather and a warm breeze out of the southwest. A cold front will approach once again from the north by late in the afternoon/evening. While we may see another shower or some thunder, coverage will likely be sparse.
It’ll turn cooler, but more seasonable through the rest of the work week, with highs in the 60s under a mostly cloudy sky on Wednesday. Thursday will hold in the 50s, with clouds over to a good deal of afternoon sun. Friday will turn wet, with a round of rain likely as a storm system moves in and strengthens.
It is this same storm system that may help to bring our first flakes of the season to the region. The storm system will pull down colder air as it pulls away. It may be cold enough by Saturday morning for a mixture of lake enhanced/effect rain showers, mixing with some graupel and even elevation snowflakes. At this point, accumulating snow isn’t in our forecast, but parts of the Adirondacks may see some accumulation. This is still about 5 days away, so there may be some adjustments to this forecast, so check back if you have weekend plans.
