An Indiana baby is going viral in an adorable way, with a heartwarming story that unexpectedly turned into a tribute to the late Mike Ditka.
Amber Kessler, of northwest Indiana, says she started posting videos and photos each month of her newborn baby Landon after a harrowing pregnancy and birth.
“We first thought it was severe acid reflux,” Kessler told NBC Chicago. “It turned out to be a hole in my diaphragm.”
Following emergency bypass surgery and a C-section, Landon came two months early. Kessler started documenting their journey on social media, posting a special photo shoot each month to honor and celebrate that both mom and baby were healthy.
“Every month, I want to celebrate that we’re alive and here,” Kesser said. In September, Kessler celebrated the four-month-old Landon with football-themed photo shoot as a nod to the start of the 2026-27 NFL season.
As part of the theme, Kessler, a fourth-generation Bears fan dressed baby Landon up as Mike Ditka, complete with a custom Bears vest, sunglasses and drawn-on mustache.
“I could not for the life of me find a baby vest in his size, so I made my own,” Kessler said.
Kessler posted Ditka baby video to Instagram Sept. 27. Two weeks later, Ditka’s family announced the iconic Chicago Bears player and coach had died at the age of 86. quickly began taking off, with more than 100 comments including one from baby brand Fisher Price that said “Da Cutest.”
“Every month we come up with something creative,” Kessler said. “So happy that we’re both alive, because it was a wild journey.”
