Judi Dench, who is 91 years old, is still a very active actress, and she doesn’t have plans to stop anytime soon. But in a new interview, she reflected on death and revealed the exact way that she’d prefer to die, if it were up to her.
The Skyfall actress sat down for a conversation with fellow actor and close friend, Brendan O’Hea, to talk about her life and career for The Times. When they got to the topic of aging, O’Hea asked Dench if she noticed any benefits to getting older.
“Yes, one — they give you a dressing room nearer the stage. Otherwise, forget it,” she replied, going on to share her displeasure about constantly being asked about retiring or stepping back from acting.
Taking it a step further, Dench revealed that her dream way to die would actually be backstage during a theater production: “I want to be like Newton Blick, who died in his dressing room after a performance.”
Making it even clearer that she has no intention of ever stopping acting or going on adventures, Dench added, “I want to be one of those women who throw themselves out of planes when they’re 100.”

While Dench has taken on fewer roles recently due to her age-related macular degeneration (AMD) eye disorder, which has limited her vision, she will likely be back in a new role, whether on screen or on stage, soon.
