It’s easy to portray a humble nature when you’re on top of the world. The true mark of good character, though, is what you do when you’re down. On Saturday, Keelon Russell exemplified it during the Georgia-Alabama postgame scene.
Russell, fresh off his first loss as a collegiate starter, waited out opposing passer Gunner Stockton’s interview with ESPN/ABC reporter Holly Rowe before congratulating him on his victory. The two quarterbacks dapped each other up, then headed their separate ways.

— Wilson Alexander (@walexander) October 11, 2026Russell wasn’t his sharpest on Saturday night, completing a season-low 53.5% of his passes (16/30) for 185 yards. However, his production appears tamer only because of the dominance he displayed over the previous three weeks, when he posted three consecutive otherworldly stat lines in multi-possession wins.
Stockton, meanwhile, maintained his efficient play in one of the country’s most hostile environments. He did toss his second interception of the season (nearly the third, too), but completed more than 80% of his passes (18/22) and kept Georgia’s offense on schedule. The Bulldogs gained at least 40 yards on all four of their second half drives and out-possessed the Crimson Tide 19:11-10:49 over that time frame.
Both Stockton and Russell get another taste of intense action in Week 7. Georgia hosts Auburn in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, while Alabama travels to Tennessee for the Third Saturday in October. Those matchups kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 17.
