On MobLand, Alex Fine plays a man you wouldn’t want to cross. But at home, he’s a dad whose daughter tells her classmates he wears makeup to work.
Fine, 33, is back for the second season of the Paramount+ British crime drama, which premiered Sept. 18. He plays Donnie, working for crime boss Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer) and a rival to Tom Hardy’s fixer, Harry Da Souza. The series also stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.
In an Oct. 8 interview with Capital XTRA, Fine said his wife, singer Cassie Ventura, was “super supportive” of the role, in part because the couple were already fans of the show.
Location also played a role. Fine explained that filming in London, where his family lives, made it easier to balance work and home life. A previous acting job had kept him in New Mexico for a year, with delays during the SAG-AFTRA strike extending his time away.
This time, his family could even visit him on set. Fine said his daughters particularly enjoy stopping by the makeup trailer to see the special effects makeup used on the show.
Their interest has led to a funny misunderstanding among their school friends. Fine recalled another father asking what he did for work after hearing that Sunny had told his daughter her dad “puts on makeup every day for work.”
Fine laughed off the description, noting that his daughter was “technically” right.
The family’s quiet life in London stands in contrast to the headlines surrounding Cassie’s ex, Sean “Diddy” Combs. Cassie was a key witness in Combs’ 2025 federal trial, and he is serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. This week, Bureau of Prisons records showed his release date had been pushed back to March 2028, following an NBC News report alleging he had a contraband cellphone and special meals behind bars. Combs’ representative has called the scrutiny of his prison life overblown.
Fine and Cassie married in 2019, and he has rarely shared much about their family in interviews. With MobLand now airing, Fine may be playing a heavy but off screen, his toughest critics seem to be three kids under 6.
