Over the weekend in downtown Cairo, an exhibition turned donated clothing that might once have ended up in a landfill into a curated material system, sorted by color, texture, and pattern, inviting visitors to see textile waste as a resource. The Egyptian Clothing Bank (ECB), a nonprofit organization, held the fourth edition of its From Waste to Good Taste (FWGT) exhibition on 25 and 26 September at The Factory, a venue on Al Nabrawi Street in Qasr El Nile, Downtown. The two-day exhibition traced each piece’s journey through the bank’s circular system, from repair to redistribution, and paired that display with art installations and hands-on workshops. Proceeds and fundraising activities will support the bank’s Back-to-School campaign, which provides school uniforms and bags to children in need.
