Organizers brought together local groups to help people experiencing homelessness access housing resources and other support services. The event focused on care management and connecting attendees with organizations that offer assistance.
“But to have them all in one place really is sort of that one-stop shop for people to learn about new organizations. Sort of those best-kept secrets, and to be able to connect with individuals from those organizations and find out a little bit more about what they do,” said Michael Ford, executive director with the House of Mercy.
A recent count found more than 800 people homeless in Rochester and Monroe County. The city of Rochester recently approved funding for the reopening of Peace Village, a homeless encampment near ESL Ballpark.
World Homeless Day is on Saturday.
