Shane Beamer made headlines two weeks ago after he suspended star defensive player Dylan Stewart indefinitely after the loss to Alabama in Week 4. During the game, Stewart threw a punch at an Alabama player and also had a sideline aruegment with Beamer.
He missed last week’s 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky, and his status for Saturday’s matchup against Florida was in doubt.
However, on Friday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Beamer has decided to lift Stewart’s suspension in time for Week 6 against the Gators:

Stewart entered the 2026 college season as one of the top prospects in the country, but he has hurt his stock. He missed the first two games of the year with injuries, and then off the field issues have really hurt him.
The Gamecocks as a whole entered this season with high expectations, but things haven’t gone as planned. The Gamecocks are currently 2-3 on the season, losing all three of their SEC games.
The game against Florida is an opportunity for the team to try and save its season, and for Stewart to show everybody that he can still be the player people thought he would be this year.
