News by : (Parade) -

Basketball phenom A’ja Wilson just added another accolade to her growing list of honors, earning the WNBA Most Valuable Player award for the third straight year of her professional career. The emotional moment, which took place Thursday at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, was filled with celebration and surprise congratulatory messages from former Vice President Kamala Harris and her boyfriend, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo.

This achievement allowed Wilson to break not one, but two WNBA records. The 30-year-old Las Vegas Aces center is truly creating her own lane in the industry while continuing to be an inspiration for anyone with hoop dreams.

“As a girl, you dream so big, and you write your goals out, and you just never imagine that you will be able to check them off,” Wilson said, per ESPN. “That’s why I cried harder on this one because 15-year-old A’ja wasn’t sitting up here dreaming about being a five-time MVP. She wasn’t dreaming about being a three-time champion. She was dreaming about surviving this world. So for me to sit up here surrounded by these trophies … it means a little bit more to me.”
