Three Bears: Week 5’s Picks to Click ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The Bears are rolling despite being without quarterback Caleb Williams for the past couple of weeks. They’ll look to make it three straight wins in their first matchup of the season with the Packers on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Here are the potential difference-makers in Sunday’s Week 5 contest between the Bears and Packers.

Three Bears: Week 5’s Picks to Click

Patrick Flowers: D’Andre Swift — News Thursday afternoon has Kyle Monangai dealing with turf toe, creating uncertainty about his availability over the next week or two. Monangai was the workhorse back last week against the Jets after Swift was benched due to an “egregious” fumble.

But Ben Johnson said this week that Swift will be fine and that he’s not concerned fumbles will be an issue moving forward. That’s good, because he might have to play this week without his backfield mate if Monangai can’t go. Even if he can, it’ll probably be limited. So, all signs point to Swift carrying the bulk of the load out of the backfield.

BEARS VS. PACKERS: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR WEEK 5

Chicago ran the ball 50 times last week between Swift, Monangai, and Luther Burden III, and with Tyson Bagent under center once again, the ground game seems like the clearest path to a Bears victory at Lambeau Field. It’ll require a strong week for Swift, but I have no doubt he’ll be ready to answer the call in Green Bay.

Matt Rooney: Darnell Wright — I want to cheat and take the entire offensive line, but I won’t. But I think on Sunday the Bears are going to make it a point to run the ball, run the ball, run the ball, and then run the ball some more.

I said on the BN Bears pod my bold prediction for this week was that the Bears would run for 300 yards as a team. If that’s going to be on the table, Darnell Wright has to play at the All-Pro level he’s been playing at all season.

I think he will. I think Jonah Jackson will. And I think Ben Johnson will make it a point to try to out-physical and bully the Packers in the run game. That starts with Darnell Wright.

Luis Medina: Luther Burden III — Somebody needs to take over as the Packers slayer now that DJ Moore is gone. That said, I don’t think anyone is better positioned than Burden to be that guy. Burden’s 2025 breakout seemed to begin with his Week 14 performance against Green Bay at Lambeau Field. The 4-catch, 67-yard game kicked off a four-game stretch at the end of the season in which he caught 21 passes for 324 yards and a touchdown. To put those numbers in perspective, that is an 89-catch, 1,377-yard pace.

Also, Burden has the attitude to take the torch from Moore. He said all the right things earlier in the week. And this video has been living in my head rent-free since it hit my timeline on Monday morning:

I’m probably gonna watch this edit a million times between now and Sunday.
