This Monday, October 12, head to the Chapel Hill Public Library from 6-8 p.m. for a panel discussion about Frederick Douglass. Michelle Cotton Laws will lead a conversation about Douglass’ landmark 1865 speech “What the Black Man Wants,” where he forcefully called for the right to vote – pushing back against civil-rights advocates who were ready to declare victory and end their fight with the abolition of slavery.
