Butterfinger‘s new flavor is still months away from shelves, but the debate has already started.
The beloved candy bar is teaming up with Marvel for a limited-edition flavor featuring smashing co-branded packaging, its parent company Ferrero announced this week, debuting the product at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Show in Las Vegas. The annual convention, which has been held in several other cities over the years, has become a hot spot for spotting new releases well before their debut. And this year, Ferrero is getting ahead of any leaks by sharing some information about its upcoming Marvel launches publicly—including its new Butterfinger Green Apple Smash.
“Ferrero is building on a year of major marketing moments with collaborations that bring iconic characters and our beloved brands together in new ways,” Michael Lindsey, president and chief business officer of Ferrero North America, shared in an Oct. 7 press release. “The Marvel Universe gives us a powerful platform to excite fans and introduce Ferrero brands to new audiences.”
Butterfinger’s New Green Apple-Flavored Candy Bar Is Coming Soon—Here’s Everything We Know, Including the Upcoming Release Date
According to the official announcement, Butterfinger’s Green Apple Smash is one of the many newcomers launching as part of its Marvel partnership, and it may just be the most controversial of the bunch.

Butterfinger Green Apple Smash: a new flavor featuring Hulk imagery on the packageA flavor profile was not immediately available, but we presume it will feature a green-apple-flavored white chocolate coating in place of its traditional chocolate shell (just like Butterfinger Marshmallow and the spinoffs before it) stuffed with a crispy, crunchy, peanut-buttery filling.
Although the reviews are not out yet (we’re not even sure anyone was able to taste it at NACS), fans are already getting into intense debates online, with some arguing this is as classic a combination as the original Butterfinger, while others are sure they’re making the right decision passing on it.
“I love granny smith apples and peanut butter!” one Reddit user declared, hoping the candy would somehow recreate the flavors of the classic duo.
Another disagreed, “Green apple butterfingers is WILD.”
View this post on Instagram“An apple Butterfinger just sounds strange,” a third shared in a separate social media post, teasing that they are still going to at least “try it.”
“Love the Hulk concept but kinda shocked at the flavor combo,” someone else shared, admitting, “I’ll try it at least once. If I can find it! I’m still looking for salted caramel!”
“I envy america and its wealth of superfluous flavors,” one more teased.
As for when fans can expect it in stores, mark your calendars for Summer 2027. Although an exact release date hasn’t been shared, summer snacks usually start lining shelves shortly before Memorial Day—which, believe it or not, is only seven months away!
Ferrero North America
