Ben Affleck is giving Gone Girl fans a new reason to revisit one of the movie’s most talked-about scenes.
While looking back at his role as Nick Dunne in the 2014 thriller, Affleck confirmed that he “wore no prosthesis” during the infamous shower scene with Rosamund Pike, who played his onscreen wife, Amy Dunne.
The revelation appeared in a recent Variety profile, in which Affleck discussed his experience making the David Fincher-directed film and his willingness to do whatever the filmmaker asked of him.
“I was willing to do anything for him, you know, like, be naked, whatever, like, fine,” Affleck said in a separate Letterboxd interview.
Naturally, the internet had thoughts.
Variety’s social media post about the revelation quickly drew a flood of reactions from fans who were less interested in Affleck’s memories of working with Fincher and more interested in the very specific detail he had just confirmed.
“Give it to me,” one person commented, while another bluntly insisted, “It’s CG dick.” Someone else wondered whether anyone had “worked out the rough size,” while another commenter brought Affleck’s longtime friend Matt Damon into the conversation.
Not everyone was convinced by Affleck’s claim, either, with one person simply responding, “Liar. He did.”
The shower scene has remained one of Gone Girl’s most memorable moments, but Affleck’s latest comments also shed light on what it was like working with Pike and Fincher.
Affleck said he is still somewhat afraid of Pike years after making the movie, telling Variety that he remains struck by the actress’s unsettling presence.
“I’m still afraid of [her],” he said, recalling how he reacts when he sees Pike in real life.
Affleck praised Pike’s performance as Amy, saying she was “great in the movie.” He also described working with Fincher as “such a great freeing experience.”
“I loved every day on that movie,” Affleck said.
As for Pike, Affleck admitted that despite spending months working alongside her, she remains “enigmatic and mysterious” to him.
“I don’t know that I ever really got to know her,” he admitted.
