Jimmy Kimmel had a furious response to Donald Trump after the president suggested Iran could “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego.
During Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the late-night host addressed Trump’s recent comments about the ongoing conflict with Iran, in which the president said the loss of American cities would be a “small price to pay” for keeping the country safe.
“They can take out a city. Let ’em take out Los Angeles. Let ’em take out San Diego,” Trump said in a clip during Kimmel’s monologue.
Kimmel did not hold back in his response, calling Trump’s remarks “one of the craziest, most indefensible statements I have ever heard even this maniac make.”
“He’s talking about Iran bombing us,” Kimmel said. “And I know he says a lot of crazy things. I know this is something we’ll forget about by Thursday when he accidentally swallows a baby at a rally or whatever the hell he does next.”
But Kimmel said Trump’s comments crossed a line because the United States is currently at war with Iran.
“Openly musing about Iran, a country we are currently at war with, taking out two American cities while his adoring fans cheer him on,” he said. “But it’s okay ’cause we’re liberals. We deserve to be bombed.”
Kimmel then turned his attention to Trump’s mental state, jokingly asking, “Can somebody please change this man’s diaper already?”
“I think that old nut has been sitting in his own excrement too long,” Kimmel continued. “He has the rant-a-virus and it needs to be treated medically.”
The late-night host went on to argue that Trump’s comments amounted to something much more serious than the usual presidential rhetoric he mocks on his show.
“Now we have our own president wishing death to America,” Kimmel said.
He also referenced Trump’s recent attacks on him and other media figures before returning to the president’s comments about Los Angeles and San Diego.
