ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Tuesday featured a chilly start, but then an abundance of sunshine. Our weather will remain fairly quiet through the rest of the week, but we’ll be tracking a cold front that will bring a few showers from time to time. A southerly breeze will pick up Tuesday night into Wednesday morning ahead of that cold front, which will actually cause our temperatures to rise into the lower 50s by Wednesday morning. We’ll continue to climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s by Wednesday afternoon. The cold front will pass through Wednesday afternoon, but will lack much moisture. This means most of us will see a dry frontal passage, with just the slight chance of a brief passing afternoon shower.
That being said, cooler air will begin to move in aloft, which will produce a minor lake response Wednesday night and into Thursday. We’ll see a slightly better chance of some scattered showers into the day Thursday, with a cooler breeze, but still a good deal of sunshine. Friday also looks pretty good, though staying a little cool with highs in the lower to mid 60s.
The weekend will feature a warmup, with highs into the 70s at least on Saturday, and possibly Sunday. The one thing we’ll be watching for the weekend is the likely future developing of a tropical system in the Gulf over the next few days. Moisture from this future storm may very well get drawn into the Ohio Valley and Northeast by the end of the weekend. If rain holds off, we should be in the 70s again on Sunday. If some of that rain sneaks in a little earlier during the day, that will tend to keep our temperatures a little cooler in the 60s. We’ll monitor the developing of that future storm, and let you know of any potential impacts on our weekend weather.
