HOPEWELL, N.Y. — Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies have identified the woman that was killed in a bus crash in Hopewell back in August.
Tiffany Stewart, 33, was killed after deputies say the driver of a medical transport bus, George Payne, failed to yield the right of way to a dump truck at the intersection of State Route 488 and Freshour Road.
Payne was ticketed in September in relation to the crash. There were six passengers on the bus, including Stewart. Four others were seriously hurt as a result of the crash.

Last week, the State Department of Transportation announced crews would be installing a four-way stop at that same intersection.

At the time of the crash, News10NBC spoke to people in the area, who said crashes aren’t uncommon at that intersection.

Crews will be installing new stop signs and stop-ahead signs in both directions on State Route 488 Wednesday. The road will be reduced to one lane until the work is done.
