Another World actor Mark Mortimer, who played Nick Hudson on the daytime soap opera, has died at 59.
In an online obituary shared by his family, the actor was praised for his ability to live life to the fullest. It noted that Mortimer passed on September 23, 2026.
Mortimer’s character was central to the goings-on in the fictional town of Bay City during the soap’s final years. Nick debuted in 1995 as the secret, long-lost son of Michael Hudson (Kale Browne). The character was involved in several high-profile Bay City romantic arcs, including a stormy relationship and engagement with Sofia Carlino (Dahlia Salem) and a brief, fraught marriage to Maggie Cory (Robyn Griggs).
The actor played the character through the series’ end in 1999. He was the last of a trio of actors to play the role including Justin Chambers and Kevin McClatchy.

A family statement read, “He served. He built. He took chances. He loved deeply. He gave generously. He laughed often. He showed up. And he trusted God all the way home.”
added that the actor “lived many lives in one lifetime. He was an Army veteran, a model, an actor, an entrepreneur and a builder. He was a husband, father, son, brother and friend.”
It continued, “He was curious and determined, willing to take chances, start something new, change direction and figure things out along the way. But of all the titles Mark held throughout his life, the two that mattered most to him were husband and dad.”
Mortimer met his wife Christie, in 2000. They were married for 25 years and share one daughter, Hunter. The family statement said, “Of everything he accomplished in his life, nothing made him prouder than being her dad.”
Together the couple, with their partner Dave, created Inside Out Construction. This company would become part of their family’s story for more than 20+ years.
The statement read, “Mark passed away on September 23, 2026 at the age of 59, surrounded by the people he loved most, after a fearless journey with cancer.”
“Cancer became part of Mark’s story in 2024, but it never became the definition of it. Instead, Mark chose to use what he was experiencing to help others.”
The obituary concluded, “Together, Mark and Christie founded the Integrative Access Foundation, created to give people facing cancer access to integrative therapies that might otherwise be financially out of reach. What began in the middle of their own difficult journey became a mission of hope for other families.”
