ESPN’s FPI is seeing what most will see this week in the leadup to the massive matchup in Tuscaloosa between No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama.
Saturday night’s Week 6 showdown is, naturally, in prime time, with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC, as the SEC superpowers hook up once more with both teams ranked in the top 10 and plenty on the line on the second Saturday of October.
By all accounts, this should be a game that comes down to the bitter end in T-Town, and that’s what the FPI believes, too. At least for now, Alabama is a very slight favorite at home, and ESPN’s FPI follows with that theme by giving the Tide a 52.6% chance to prevail and stay unbeaten.
But because Bama is getting just over a 50% chance to win, that means Georgia is getting an almost 50% chance to prevail, too. To be exact, the Dawgs are being given a 47.3% shot to storm into Tuscaloosa and stay unbeaten themselves.
Fittingly, both teams have the exact same overall record (5-0) and SEC mark (3-0), so something really does have to give on Saturday night. Not only is this a matchup that features 2 of the best teams in college football in 2026, it’s of course a historical SEC showdown that features 2 of the most traditional powers in the conference’s history.
These 2 behemoths have played for plenty in recent years, and while Alabama leads the all-time series, 45-27-4, Georgia has won plenty over Bama in recent seasons, including beating the Tide in last year’s SEC Championship Game as well as outlasting Alabama in the 2021 national championship game.
Of course, 4 years earlier, almost to the day, Bama took down Georgia in overtime to win that thriller of a national title game to end the 2017 season. So, it’s gone both ways in the biggest of moments, and Saturday night will provide another big moment in a rivalry like none other in the SEC.
While ESPN’s FPI had its own opinion on the titanic Georgia-Alabama matchup, here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide and who has the better shot to prevail in what is one of the most-anticipated matchups of the entire 2026 season:
