ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The fourth annual Italian Heritage Day returned to the Rochester Public Market.
The event featured classic Italian food, live entertainment and language lessons led by students from RIT and Nazareth College. Organizers said the festival offered many attendees a chance to connect with their heritage and community.
“I am Italian, so it’s nice to see my little community. And obviously some of the people here speak Italian, so it’s nice to get to practice the language I’m learning in a real-world example,” said Gi Davis, an RIT student.
The festival also included a new speaker series on Italian American history and migration, along with activities for children and opportunities to share family stories with local archivists.
