An initial recall notice went out in July for all lots of frozen GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries, which were sold at Publix supermarkets in eight states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Then, in September, the recall was expanded to include frozen berries that were shipped to Walmart locations in 16 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin.
A follow-up recall indicates that manufacturer Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., San Carlos, Chile has expanded the notice to include additional lots of frozen organic IQF blueberries and berry blend, including 10-ounce packages of Great Value frozen organic triple berry blend (lot codes 6 031 01 and 6 041 01) and Great Value frozen organic blueberries (lot codes 6 019 01, 6 040 01 and 6 163 01) sold at Walmart, and one lot of frozen organic mixed berry blend sold at Trader Joe’s (lot code 6 051 01).

The recalled Great Value product was shipped to Walmart stores in 30 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia, as well as Puerto Rico.
The recalled Trader Joe’s product was shipped to Trader Joe’s stores in 26 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin, as well as Washington, D.C.

Consumers are asked to discard the recalled products or return them to their place of purchase for a refund. E. Coli can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. While most healthy individuals are able to recover within a week, young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems may suffer more severe symptoms.
