October is known for its signature spookiness, but foodies are probably aware it’s also National Pizza Month.
In honor of the occasion, California Pizza Kitchen revealed on Friday, October 2 that it has a “confession”: The popular chain has been ignoring years of fan pleas to bring back pizzas such as Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Shrimp Scampi, and Pear & Gorgonzola.
So, this October, CPK is finally saying sorry — and doing it with 25,000 free “Apology Pizzas.” Fans can just comment “Apology Accepted” on CPK’s Instagram, TikTok or Facebook posts and get a code for a free 7″ pizza (with a $20 online order) sent straight to their DMs.
The brand even hired a Chief Forgiveness Officer to deliver a “very serious” video apology. “Introducing our CFO, Chief Forgiveness Officer ??,” reads the caption of CPK’s recent Instagram post. “He’s here to apologize to everyone missing long lost CPK pizzas that have not been brought back to the menu (yet).”

“We take full responsibility for the unforgettable pizzas that fans have loved and lost,” said Chef Paul Pszybylski, vice president of culinary innovation at CPK, said in a statement shared Friday. “But this National Pizza Month, we’re making it right – with 25,000 free pizzas now, one returning pizza next year, and zero regrets about how seriously we’re taking this. So yeah, we’re sorry, but also you’re welcome.”
Codes will be distributed from through October 31 for one free 7” pizza with a $20 purchase with code APOLOGYPIZZA and can be redeemed through November 10.
