An investigation was underway after a 64-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at around 6:30 p.m. in the 400 block of East Illinois Street near North McClurg Court. Police said the victim was inside a parking garage when he was approached by two men. One of the men demanded the victim’s property, at which point he refused, and one of the suspects opened fire.
The victim was shot in his side and taken to an area hospital, where he was reported to be in good condition. The suspects fled the scene following the shooting.
Detectives are investigating.
