The FDA has upgraded Salata’s recall of its Salata Salad Kitchen Jalapeño Avocado Dressing to a Class I classification, the agency’s most serious risk level. The designation, issued Tuesday, Sept. 29, according to an FDA enforcement report, means there’s a reasonable probability that eating the product could cause serious health problems or death.
The Houston-based company first announced the voluntary recall in August. It covers 1,724 cases of dressing distributed in Texas, Georgia and North Carolina. The recall includes 12.5-fluid-ounce bottles with UPC 8 50043-70646 5, as well as one-gallon jugs packed four to a case.
Shoppers at H-E-B should check for bottles sold between July 13 and Aug. 5 with best-by dates of Nov. 5, Nov. 13, Nov. 18 or Nov. 25, 2026. The date is printed at the top of the label.
