Two drivers were taken to area hospitals in critical condition after a serious crash in unincorporated Marengo.
According to authorities, officers were called to the intersection of Maple Street and West Coral Road at approximately 2:45 p.m. for reports of a serious crash.
A small tanker truck and a passenger vehicle were involved in the crash, with the passenger vehicle knocked onto its side by the force of the crash.
The drivers of the two vehicles were trapped inside, with firefighters having to work to extricate both at the scene.
Medical helicopters were requested, but could not fly due to the weather conditions, and both drivers were taken to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for several hours for clean-up and an investigation.
