Jimmy Kimmel has kicked off yet another spectacular season at ABC with the return of his hit talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, with the latest season of the series beginning earlier this September.
As the TV host continues to delight audiences with his irreverent brand of comedy, however, a few select celebrities have voiced their frustration with Kimmel’s comedic style.
On the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, for example, the host found his monologue interrupted by a baseball bat-wielding Robert De Niro, who played the part of FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and delivered several not-so-subtle threats about potentially suspending and/or canceling Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“You’re being threatened by the FCC?” De Niro started by saying. “Who is threatening you? Am I threatening you? Do you feel threatened by me?”
“Hey, look who it is everybody. It’s the chairman of the FCC,” Kimmel remarked. “What was your name again?”
“My name is none of your f***ing business. That’s my name,” De Niro said, before revealing he was attending Kimmel’s show for a “routine inspection.”
“Now if you will shut that f***ing mouth of yours, I have a few items I’d like to discuss,” the two-time Oscar winner continued, pointing out that Kimmel had made 192 insults against President Donald Trump.
When Kimmel tried to explain himself, De Niro promptly shut him down.
“Did I tell you it was your turn to talk, numb nuts?” he said. “You speak when I tell you to speak and otherwise you shut the f**k up.”
In his explanation, De Niro’s chairman said the only way hKimmel ould get away with insulting the president is by paying the commander-in-chief an equal compliment at the same time.
“If you were to say something like, ‘Trump wasn’t invited to Jeffrey Epstein’s birthday party cuz they were afraid he’d start eating the cake before the kid jumped out,’ then you got to also compliment his penmanship in that naked lady birthday poem he didn’t write,” De Niro told Kimmel. “Am I clear?”
