ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Country music singer Claudia Hoyser helped set the mood for this year’s “United in Service” fundraiser at the Strathallan Hotel on East Avenue in Rochester.
Guests dined and danced while raising money for the Rochester Police Foundation. Jay Rettberg, general manager of the Strathallan Hotel, said, “We’ve raised more than $50,000 and it’s just wonderful. It makes you really feel good about the community you’re in.”
Chief Dave Smith said, “I really appreciate the Police Foundation. Like I said, if it weren’t for them, we couldn’t do a lot of the community activities that we do because I simply don’t get a budget to buy toys or to buy turkeys.”
Smith also shared that the police department just received its first of two new wellness dogs, paid for by the Police Foundation. The dogs will be at the station to help officers and staff keep their spirits up during the workday.
